A Celebration of Donegal Fiddle-Workshops

Join BelfastTrad and Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí in celebrating the fiddle masters from Donegal. Known for driving style and pace, Donegal fiddling has close ties to Scottish fiddling, with its unique interpretations of mazurkas, highlands, strathspeys and schottiches.

Friday evening, join us at Rosemary hall for a celebration of Con Cassidy, the beloved fiddler from Teelin. There will be a talk, tunes, stories, photos, and reminiscences from those who knew Con and those who were influenced by his music.

Saturday morning there will be a visit to the grave of Charlie Doherty, from the famous Donegal Doherty family, who is buried at Milltown cemetary. His grave was unmarked until 2017, when Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí erected a gravestone in his honour.

Saturday afternoon, there will be fiddle workshops for both advanced and intermediate levels with Martin McGinley and Maurice Bradley

Sunday evening join us at Madden’s Bar (upstairs) for a night of Donegal music, with Melanie Houton, Martin McGinley, Maurice Bradley, Conor Caldwell, Micheal Cherry and others. 9:00pm
