Teen Mixed Instrumental Class - Kevin McCullagh
All Levels – Wednesday 5:00–6:00pm
The Teen Mixed Instrumental Class with Kevin McCullagh is designed for young musicians aged 13–18 (with some places for 11–12-year-olds) of all levels. This collaborative class gives teens the opportunity to learn and arrange traditional tunes, develop ensemble skills, and play confidently as part of a group. It’s also a great way to meet new friends who share a love of traditional music, all in a supportive and fun environment.

intermediate and advanced – wednesday 6:00–7:00pm
The Mixed Instrumental Class with Catriona Gribben is designed for intermediate and advanced players on melody instruments, including guitar and bouzouki. This collaborative class focuses on developing ensemble skills, teaching 1–2 new tunes per week, and building confidence in session playing — from creating smooth transitions between tunes to playing comfortably at speed as part of a group. Led by multi-instrumentalist Catriona Gribben, a Donegal-born performer with extensive international touring experience and a key figure in Belfast’s traditional music scene, the class offers an engaging, supportive environment for players to expand their repertoire and musicianship.
Kevin mCcullagh
Kevin is a fiddle player from Belfast with a detailed, driving yet unhurried style. He is active in the local trad session scene and the experimental improv scene at the Sonic Arts Research Centre. Kevin is a founding member of the experimental trio Coras, performing internationally and at Irish festivals including Sonorities Festival, Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Hilltown Contemporary Music Festival, and Electric Picnic.
catriona gribben
Catriona Gribben is a multi-instrumentalist from the Gaeltacht region of Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal. A fluent performer on accordion, piano, guitar, and tin whistle, she grew up deeply immersed in Irish music, song, and culture — a foundation that shines through in her natural, expressive style.
She holds a First-Class Honours degree in Music and Audio Production from Queen’s University Belfast and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Research. Catriona has toured extensively with the traditional band An Crann Óg, performing across Ireland, the UK, Germany, and the USA. She now plays with Huartan, The Mary Wallopers, and Lonesome George, and plays a central role in Belfast’s vibrant traditional music scene, including events at Queen’s University.
