BelfastTrad presents a harp masterclass with renowned Belfast Harpist Úna Monaghan for intermediate to advanced players.

The tutor:
Úna Monaghan is a harper, composer, researcher and sound artist from Belfast. Her recent work has combined traditional music with bronze sculpture, sound art and movement sensors. She performs with harp and electronics, and released an album of her compositions, named “For” in 2018. Her compositions have been presented on BBC and RTÉ television and radio, in theatre productions, and at international festivals and conferences, such as the International Computer Music Conference and New York Electroacoustic Music Festival. She collaborates, improvises and performs with poets, visual artists, computers, writers, musicians, and others. Úna also works as a sound engineer specialising in Irish traditional music, and experimental, live electronic and multichannel music, a role in which she travels worldwide.
The workshop:
Úna will teach dance music with a focus on placement and technique, with a mix of traditional and her own newly composed tunes.
Úna will begin the workshop at 2.00pm with a short break at 3.00pm and the workshop will finish at 4.15pm.
The recital:
Workshop registration also includes a free recital by Úna from 4.30pm with an opportunity to discuss arrangements and all things harp with Úna. The recital is open to all, email info@belfasttrad.com to book your place.

Cost and booking:
Registration is £15. Current students and members of BelfastTrad receive a reduced rate of £10. Registration closes at 5pm Friday 27th November. Booking is essential and places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment and to receive any info about the workshop in plenty of time.
